Now, if this were any corporation other than his own, what would he be doing? Ripping it for heartlessly failing to give its employees basic protection. Denouncing it for skipping town just as the fine was being levied. Condemning it for ducking the fine for nearly three years.

Al Franken was caught red handed breaking the rules when his personal corporation failed to pay workers' compensation insurance for nearly three years.
It took a $25,000 fine to make Al Franken play by the rules.

We've seen the destructive effect of MoveOn.org's nasty politics many times, including their recent outrageous attack on U.S. General David Petraeus in the New York Times.
Now MoveOn.org and other extremists have focused on Susan Collins, and they are using the same bare-knuckle tactics they've always used.

From the page: "CBS News highlighted Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu's controversial $2 million earmark that she exchanged for $30,000 in campaign contributions. This earmark has led to a Senate ethics complaint -- as well as complaints filed with U.S. attorneys -- by an independent government ethics watchdog."

Back to the case of Landrieu and the Voyager earmark. As the earmark was working its way through the Congressional process, Randy Best arranged a lucrative fundraiser for Landrieu. And his employees, friends and family suddenly became new donors to the Landrieu re-election campaign. They quickly raised more than $30,000 for the Landrieu campaign chest. In the campaign world where individual donations are subject to federal limits, that's a huge chunk of change. And to many people, it looks like there was a deal: Landrieu gave Best the money he wanted, and he gave her lots of campaign donations in return.
